John was called to the Bar of the Middle Temple in England in 1983 having completed his B.A. (Hons.) and LL.B (Hons.) at the University of the West Indies and his LL.M. (Hons.) at the Univesity of London (King's College). In 1984 he was admitted to the Bar in Barbados.

With a practice encompassing mainly Civil and Commercial Law, John represents several of the leading lending institutions and insurance companies in Barbados. In 1997 he represented The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company of Canada in the Sale of their entire portfolio to Life Of Barbados Limited.

His specialties are Commerial Law, including banking and property transactions, estates, trusts and all aspects of Civil Litigation, and Shipping/Maritime Law.
